Cleaning Up, and Moving On Empty Cleaning Up, and Moving On

Crimson eyes lowered as the adolescent white pelted cub made his way through the debris of what once remained of a great Mark. His ears pinned flat against his head, and his maw dropped in sheer shock of the damage of what fire could unleash on those so innocent. Aun only vaguely remembered what it looked like, but his coat still stuck of smoke and ash and he was still covered in black patches of soot. He hadn't felt like cleaning himself... Not after what had happened. Even though it had been a good while already since the blaze was extinguished, he still hadn't heard anything about Lesley... Was she part of the bodies that he saw many carrying away? A chill erupted through his being and tears threatened to fill his eyes. However, he lowered his head once again and began to resume what Buru had assigned him.

He had heard that they had lost a good portion of the pride in this disaster, and as he turned over crumbling logs and rocks he feared for what he would come across. This was where the injured where... Where they laid in wait, expecting a healer to come and treat their ailments... instead they were turned to dust, engulfed in the living flame and sent to the stars. Aun lifted his gaze skyward for a moment, his muzzle pursing as he tried to not think of the agony they must had endured, and no one there to help them. This was all so overwhelming, so powerful that the cub didn't know how to act. Swallowing the lump that was forming in his throat, he flicked his tail before extending his claws from their sheaths and digging through what remained of the mark.

It took him a little while before he managed to put everything in the area he was working in, into a nice pile in the center... Just one article of everything remained. A large log. He didn't think much of it, seeing as how the work was helping him get his mind off of what he was actually doing, however, once he arrived he knew something was terribly wrong. A paw was still stuck from underneath the log and in panic, for fear that the creature might still be alive, he pushed it to the side only to reveal an aged lioness. She was lifeless, and cold, but still had the dignity and the air about her that if she walked that she'd be one of the most powerful beings in the pride. Aun's ears dropped, and he lowered to his haunches, his head dipped towards her as finally his eyes gave out and tears flowed. His fallen tears fell onto the once golden brown coat of the female and he lifted a paw and gently stroked it through her mane. He wished he could have met such a being one day but now that she was gone... What hope was there for him, or the pride? He was alone, he had no Lesley, he had nothing now. What was he to do? Hick-uping, Aun couldn't control himself as his chest heaved from the heavy tears that flowed for all the lost, and all the ones who were suffering.

---------
Ears perked up at the sounds of someone crying, and being one to always investigate matters, Rudo made his way into the areas where the others where supposed to be cleaning up the debris from the fire. He still couldn't believe what had happened, and if he hadn't been standing in the fallen Mark he probably still wouldn't. Flicking his tail in the air, his mohawk of a mane bristled as he approached the sobbing cub. He wasn't in the best of shape to console someone, especially seeing as he didn't very well know how, but he'd do his best. Seating himself down beside Aun, he looked at the body that laid before him and sighed softly to himself. This was yet another among many he had seen, but he saw the same thing that the cub had. A powerful creature, simply taken by the stars. Perhaps it was her time, or perhaps it was just fate either way... It still pained everyone to see.

Lifting a paw, he set it atop the sobbing cub's head and sighed, ruffling up the immature bit of mane he had grown.
"I know it's hard... But she is among the stars now. Life is fragile, and... Well... I'm sure one day, when the time comes, you'll see her again. That, and since she's with the stars, she'll always be watching us." He said, reassuringly, hoping to calm the cub's tears.

However, he looked down to the body, and closed his amber eyes, a small prayer and his respects slipping past his lips as he made sure to send her off with final words of care, and admiration for helping to build such an amazing pride. With that, he reluctantly pushed Aun to the side, who insisted that he help, but taking this as his duty, Rudo slipped himself beneath her, making sure she was settled ontop of his back before giving Aun one more bit of advice.
"Hang in there kid... The pride's coming back... We'll be okay. Though we have lost ones, we'll never truly be alone. That's what a pride's for." He said with a soft smile before slowly padding off in the direction of where the others and himself had created a burial site for the bodies... Though she was one among many, every single one mattered, and every single one was a true loss. Love can be shared to those who one doesn't even know, and Rudo saw love in that cub's eyes... Even if all he felt was pain.

((Hope it's alright that I tossed Aranum in there. I had always wanted to Rp with her, especially seeing her on the forum and idolizing her. She was what got me interested in MP, and what started me drawing lions. She's an inspiration, and will be deeply missed here and I thought she truly deserved an honorable mention here, even if any of my characters never got to meet her. I love you ))

(I'm dropping Cam in here. Hope you don't mind)

Cam watched sadly at the lions before him, carrying those that had fallen. He slowly made his way over to a pile of rubble and began picking up rocks.

A large trunk rested on the pile and it moved ever so slightly as the liger moved the smaller branches. It rumbled again and Cam's ears twitched. He looked up and cursed at himself for not beginning at the top.

He stood up on his hindlegs, rising to about 9 feet and reached forward, digging his claws into the trunk, effectively picking it up. He staggered backwards, sinking his teeth into the tree as well, before lowering himself on one leg, the other supporting the trunk.

As he felt the ground, Cam dropped the tree and started rolling it forward with his head.

(I think this may be a good place to drop Nishati in Smile)

Nishati padded through the grounds, it was unbelievable that this place was once full of life and foliage. She hadn't stretched her paws properly since she'd given birth, the day after the fire was put out. Nishati knew she had to do her part, eventhough it pained her so to leave her little ones, but they were safe, they were with their father, and she knew Neo could not bear to do this. Nishati was the lucky one, her family had been taken long ago, including Pich, who died saving the cubs from the circus, she knew she'd come along friends, and that would be painful, but not as painful as it would be for her mate to find the last members of his family gone forever.

Nishati sighed, she saw Cam moving logs out of the corner of her eye, but decided it was far too solemn a time to engage him in any kind of conversation. It looked like few had dared enter the caves, and for some reason it called to her, she had to go in. Nishati didn't feel she had a power, but ever since Pich's death it was almost like she heard the dead talking to her, whispering, but she couldn't understand it, but it still made her go cold. Padding into the cave it didn't take her long to find a body. She gasped catching her breath, as she could see the charred remains infront of her had six legs, and a once perfect white pelt. Nishati went closer to the remains of her good friend Xavion, tears pricking at her eyes. "No..." She whispered.

((Not at all! Aww everyone needs hugs :c ))

Aun's ears pinned back as he watched Rudo carry off the body he had found and only sighed softly to himself, his white cheeks still stained from the tears that he had shed. So many things were happening, and everything seemed to strike at once it was just all to overwhelming. Most of all, he was alone. Sure Rudo had just paid him a visit, but he didn't know the male, nor did he really want to. He had a fear of male lions, especially big ones, and now that he had lost track of Lesley... he didn't know what to do. Pushing himself up to his four he lifted a paw and rubbed at his pink nose, snuffling and attempting to rid himself of any remaining tears. Despite him being just a cub he had seen so much destruction in his short life. Padding forward, he proceeded to push rocks into a pile before a nearby sound caught his attention.

His ears perked a little, and he lowered his body down to the ground, sneaking over towards the sounds he had heard. A perk of curiosity went through him, and couldn't help but distract him from his tears and his job. Peeking his head over a nearby rock, he glanced up only to feel his body shrink back. His white stomach lowered down to the ground and his eyes widened. Before him had to be one of the largest members of the pride he had seen... And he just lifted a tree himself. Pinning his ears back, a soft merow escaped him, wondering what he should do... Sure he was a member of the misfit pride, but for some reason males just terrified him.

Colton sighed, his large equine body carrying him over the stripped land as he carried what remained of a once few strong lions on his flank, his large mass being a perfect way to transport the lost to the place where they can finally rest. Pinning his ear back, he shook out his thick mane a little, a soft chuff heaving from his lungs. It was saddening to see all that was lost, but there wasn't much the linion could do... Despite being a healer there was absolutely nothing he could do.

Lowering his body down, he let the bodies roll off of his spine before reaching back with his maw and retrieving a few herbs he had been carrying with him. He gently placed them over the bodies and dipped his head in respect, saying a silent prayer to those in the stars, hoping that they were at peace.

Cam pushed the log towards the big pile. He heard a cub's meow, but when looking around he couldn't spot any. One last glance and he went back to his pile and grabbed some rocks in his mouth, ignoring the dusty charcoaled taste. He scrunched his nose and dropped the rocks.

He sighed deeply as he looked at the damaged lands. They would rebuild it, he knew that. But would the wounds the pride had suffered heal?

He grabbed a mouth full of branches and tried not to look at the fallen.
